Now I've finally got some of my coursework out of the way, I think we should end the semester on some big events. The first is the departmental bash, which includes Rock Band, DJ Hero, TF2, Dominos pizza and Buzz!, tickets are available from the departmental office for £2 and the date is in the 'forthcoming events' box somewhere over there ->ComSoc is currently checking its funds and is probably going to buy a full Band Hero setup + and XBox 360, which means we'll be running a lot of RockBand/GH events next semester combined with the hardware the department lends us. I've been speaking with RockSoc and HACS to arrange a joint social, hopefully we might get this in week 12. Keep checking here for updates.

We're also running the last LAN of Labs (LoL) this week playing Counter Strike: Source, hope to see you all there!


Also: New website look! Thanks to Viandox for the logo and winning the tshirt competition! The tshirt/hoodies will be available in the next couple weeks, prices to follow (besides for him who gets one free!).

Thanks to everyone who turned up at the TF2, we had a couple problems with latency, but by the next time hopefully we'll have it on a more dedicated server and things'll be fine. CS:S comes up next.

Rob Miles is running a departmental bash sometime near christmas, possibly week 12, how would you guys feel about another FragFest week 11?

Also, I'm going to ask to increase the frequency of the wednesday lans to weekly, but I'll need volunteers to run the sessions every other week (when we'd not had them before) because of time constrains on the executives (damn this degree thing they make me do).

Besides that, keep check the forums, I'm hoping to have 2/3 events on the last week, and PLENTY going next semester including the Guitar Hero tournaments and a few trips to some interesting places :]

Thanks to everyone who turned up at the Counter Strike: Source LAN yesterday (and sorry to the guy I team killed >.>), it was a really good atmosphere and I hope everyone had a good time - that's defiantly something we should play more often. Back to TF2 next time though, I think having them rotating might be a good idea. If we keep getting this kind of attendance the department might let us have the room every wednesday!

Also, we're planning a night at Full Metal Panic on the 20th. It's a rock night hosted in the Asylum and is really a use it or lose it kind of thing, so I hope to see a lot of people there. We'll be meeting in the Sanc at 7:30, sticking around there for a little bit so we can idea of numbers etc. then we'll go next door to the asylum.

I'm also curious how many rockband/guitar hero players we have, I've been emailing a couple other presidents in the hope of running a inter-society rockband tournament? could be fun
